Engagement

Engaging Others

Organizational Engagement is the new imperative.  We define engagement  as the state of “Intellectual and emotional involvement”.  Engagement levels can be observed by considering employee attitudes in three key areas:

Commitment – A desire to stay with the organization

Advocacy – Willingness to recommend the organization to others

Motivation – Willingness to contribute discretionary effort.

The indicators listed above are observable attributes of an “Engaging” work environment, however, they do not necessarily give clues as to what must be in place to accomplish this end.  The indicators are simply outcome measures.  In order to develop recommendations for improvement it is necessary to look beyond the outcome conditions and attempt to discover the causal agents that can contribute to or detract from an Engaging environment.

We have developed a simple but effective model and survey to better understand the drivers of Engagement.
